The author presents methods to motivate employees in Germany, China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Nigeria to illustrate the application of the theories depending on employee motivational needs as identified by the respective national cultural dimensions.

Description

People worldwide have different perceptions of work and have different levels of motivation and commitment to perform work-related tasks. To achieve organizations’ set goals, managers have the task of motivating employees to give their best performance. Motivation has been a topic of academic study for decades, and several theories developed suggesting motivation factors and ways to implement these factors in employee motivation strategies. This paper presents suggestions on how to motivate people/employees around the world by applying motivation theories in conjunction with Hofstede’s national cultural dimensions. The author presents methods to motivate employees in Germany, China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Nigeria to illustrate the application of the theories depending on employee motivational needs as identified by the respective national cultural dimensions.
